This was a fun and original bespoke cartography idea proposed by a client recently. Next to each country name was added it’s currency symbol (£ for UK, $ for the US etc) –
Cities with an exchange were in a bunt orange colour as well (the lettering and markers) – or we highlighted country names where there was no city associated.
For those cities listed with multiple exchanges (eg Chicago) we marked them the same as those with just one.
Note : The client separately had us highlight the names of the countries he had visited up to 2024 in a differing colour. If there were any cities / countries he had listed as visited that were on the stock exchange list we deferred to the stock exchange highlight colour.
This is subtle personalisation while being a lot of added detail. You don’t really notice it when looking at the globe from afar but then when looking close you start to find all the added detail.
