For his 83rd birthday, Prof. Dr. h. c. mult. Reinhold Würth, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Würth Group’s Family Trusts, received a special gift from his daughter Bettina Würth and the Central Managing Board: a hand-made globe displaying places and events which played an important role in the life of Professor Würth. The establishment and development of the Würth Group can also be traced on this globe.

The Churchill

Its sheer size is impressive: Measuring 127 cm in diameter and roughly 150 cm in height, the globe is a real giant. The model named “The Churchill” is the largest globes manufactured by Bellerby & Co Globemakers in London. It was personalised with hundreds of added features including travel routes, hand drawn and hand painted illustrations and bespoke cartography. An original that is unique in its kind. Professor Würth’s life story and the history of the Würth Group told by the globe are impressive – just as the story behind the globe itself.

A gift for the father

In both cases, the father, entrepreneurship, ambition and the burning desire to create something inspiring, play a central role: In 2008, Peter Bellerby founded Bellerby & Co. Globemakers in his living room after having failed to find a globe for his father’s 80th birthday. Since he could not find a manufacturer who met his expectations, Bellerby himself crafted a globe for his father. However, it was a long way: It took more than two years, until Bellerby could hand over this globe to his father. Today, 22 employees work at Bellerby & Co. Globemakers crafting individualized globes to exactly meet customers’ wishes.

A globe for Reinhold Würth

The globe of Professor Reinhold Würth shows important stations of his life: the foundation of Adolf Würth GmbH & Co. KG, the moment he joined the company as a trainee and when he married his wife Carmen. The places Professor Würth has traveled to are particularly highlighted. Inseparably connected to his life story is the history of the Würth Group: To honor his life’s work, the locations of all Würth Group companies are marked on the globe. The places and events have been compiled with the help of Professor Würth’s flight log, which he had to keep as a pilot, and his diaries. Now, a board, which will serve as a key to the globe providing information on the places and events, is to be elaborated together with Professor Würth.

The globe is located in the main building of the Group’s headquarters in Künzelsau and tells Professor Würth’s life story and the history of the Würth Group based on geographical stations.
